Here are a few of my favorite books that are not only easy to understand but also deeply practical and profound, touching on themes of yoga, mindfulness, and living with purpose.

The reality is these books need to find you at the right time, when you are ripe for transformation and ready to do the work. Nonetheless, these are the reads have helped shape my journey and I can highly recommend them to anyone. Enjoy!

The Untethered Soul by Michael Singer

Untethered Soul was the most important reading of my spiritual journey, hands down. It’s written in a clear, digestible style, without requiring any prior knowledge, and gives plenty of examples and stories along the way that helped me conceptualize concepts like “we are not our mind,” how emotions are stored in our bodies, and how to let go of my need to control external circumstances and simply allow life to unfold. I learned so many important lessons from this book. I recommend it to everyone.

(Living Untethered and The Surrender Experiment and are also fantastic reads by Michael Singer)

Think Like a Monk by Jay Shetty

Think Like a Monk offers a refreshing and easygoing guide to a lot of yogic and Buddhist principles. What I loved most about this book were the examples and anecdotes Jay Shetty shared from his own journey, which really helped illuminate his growth over time. The way he explains and integrates topics like detachment and meditation made them feel concrete and sustainable, offering a practical way to apply them in everyday life. It’s a great resource for anyone looking to incorporate mindfulness and intentional living in a relatable, down-to-earth way.

P.S. this is great as an audiobook narrated by Jay Shetty himself.

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

The Alchemist is a short and sweet little novel about a boy on a journey to follow his heart, no matter how challenging or painful the path may be, and ultimately learning to surrender to life’s flow. What makes this book so powerful for me is its simplicity… the messages are profound, yet so easy to understand and connect with. As the main character’s journey unfolds, each moment teaches him something deeper about what truly matters in life, and I found myself reflecting on my own path in the process. There’s something about this story that sparks a quiet reminder that the real treasures aren’t always the end result, but the lessons we learn along the way. It’s an inspiring read for anyone who’s ever wondered if they’re on the right path, or if they can trust life’s timing and surrender to the unknown.
